2020 Leaders’ Summit Agenda Announced!

With two sets of dates on the calendar for this spring, we’ve just released the two-day agenda for our 2020 Leaders’ Summit!  The first Summit will take place on February 29 and March 1st in Gainesville, GA while the second Summit will happen in Milledgeville on April 18-19th.

8:30-9:15 Welcome & League Updates This will include a recap of 2019 and new program changes and focus for 2020
9:15-10:30 Coaching Philosophy & Working with the Student Athlete Focus on what we are training our coaches to do and how this affects and grows student-athletes. This will include workshop time for coaches.
10:45-11:45 Risk Management, Rules & Incident Reports This session is a great review and help for new coaches to understand why we do what we do to maintain the highest level of safety. Understand the role of coaches and parents in risk mamagement.
11:45-12:00 Sponsor’s Presentations:
12:00-1:00 Lunch – Bring Your Own Lunch Great time to share issues and ideas for new and returning coaches.
1:00-1:45 How to Start and Manage An Interscholastic Cycling Team This year’s session will also address rules for composite & school based teams’ structure, as well as, new recruiting ideas utilizing our alumni. Let’s use these young folks.
2:00-3:00 Stretching &Strength Training Back by popular demand, Daniel Johnson will show you the most effective warm up, cool down, stretching, strength training and even minor boo-boo helps.
3:15-4:15 Season Planning, Practices & Team Parent Community Leave this session with a template outline for an entire practice season that plays into our mission, gets parents involved in the team and continues to develop your coaches. There should be time to work with your team coaches to kick start you season’s plan.

9:15-10:00 Coach Licensing & Pit Zone How do I navigate and know who’s completed what? All your answers in a one-stop shop for coaches and students.
11:00-12:00 OTB 101: Classroom A, B, C ‘s, Bike Fit, Clothing, and Gear OTB 201: Classroom Skills Progression Whether you have never completed an OTB course beforeor if you have completed both course over your 200 years in the league, these hands-on sessions are vital for all coaches.
12:00-1:00 Lunch – Bring Your Own Lunch Great time to share issues and ideas for new and returning coaches.
1:00-4:30 On-the-Bike Skills 101 or 201 Clinic Yep, you get to get in your gear and get on your bike! You’ll learn exactly how to teach skills to adolescence who have the attention span of an ant. It’s all laid out for you with a cheat-sheet you can keep in your jersey pocket.
4:30-4:45 Closing – Could be some nice swag given, just saying!
