What is NICA GRiT?
The NICA GRiT program inspires young women to build confidence and empowerment through off-road cycling. Our goal is to increase the number of female student athletes and coaches on an annual basis.
Who can be a part of NICA GRiT GA League?
· All girls who participate in the Georgia Interscholastic Cycling League
· All women who volunteer for the Georgia Interscholastic Cycling League as coaches, ride leaders or other roles.
· All women who support getting more girls on bikes and are committed to helping increase numbers of girls participating
in the Georgia Interscholastic Cycling League!
2018 NICA GRiT GA League (formerly called Crank Sisters) has a number of fun events designed to show young women the benefits of cycling and riding bikes with the Georgia Interscholastic Cycling League! Join us during race season for our race pre-rides so we can check out the courses, meet female riders from other teams, and, mostly importantly, have fun!

MEET NICA GRiT GA LEAGUE LEADER, DAWN CHANDLER
Dawn Chandler grew up in Albany, GA, and later, she turned a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors into a degree in Outdoor Recreation from Georgia Southern University. Currently, she lives near Athens, GA with her husband, two sons and numerous animals.
Until recently, her biggest hobby was gardening and sustainable living, and she was a Chapter President of a women’s homesteading organization. When her youngest son joined the local NICA team and husband began coaching, she was not content to watch them have all the fun. She saved for her own bike and has had a growing passion for mountain biking ever since! “I am so excited to be working with the NICA GRiT and Georgia League. Being a part of our team and the league as a whole has been the best thing we have ever done for our family, said Dawn. We truly love it and cannot wait for the season to start!”
However, one of the things that she noticed as she started riding trails was a lack of ladies to ride with. She quickly became passionate about getting more women on bikes and having ladies group rides on the local trails. It is this passion that brings her to Georgia League to head the NICA GRiT program for our state. She has big ideas and a huge desire to build a special community of girls in our great league!
